Skill Builder Module

Our Skill Builder Module has proved effective in improving the reading skills of students who have fallen behind their peers in word identification ability. The Skill Builder Module provides practice on words that are sorted into grade levels. Practice consists of rapid naming of sets of words and the Skill Builder program then plots the results of a practice session in terms of the speed and accuracy with which a student named the words. After one set of words is mastered to automaticity, the program presents the student with another set of words, and practice continues.

There are many reading interventions that are designed to develop accurate word decoding skills. But most of those interventions are not successful at increasing fluency of reading.

Our reading software is designed to develop what parents most want for their children's academic success, a fluent reader. Students who use our Skill Builder Module become faster and more accurate at recognizing words. Our Intervention Sets are designed to build fluent readers in ages ranging from grade 1 to grade 8, and older students can increase their fluency in reading social studies materials by using our subject matter Intervention Set. We also offer two Intervention Sets for Math Facts.

We have developed Intervention Sets for each grade level from 1-8, and for specific topics. The Word Families set is the easiest. A typical Intervention Set for our Skill Builder Module consists of 160 words.

Select either the Skill Builder Module or the Skill Builder Designer Module and then make your selections for the individual Intervention Sets. The Skill Builder Module or our new Skill Builder Designer Module is the engine that runs the Intervention Sets. With the Designer Module in addition to running the individual Intervention Sets you can create your own word lists.

NOTE: You need to purchase either the Skill Builder Module or the Skill Builder Designer Module to run the Intervention Sets. You can purchase the Intervention Sets separately to use with either engine. When you purchase either engine it comes with a sample of the Grade 3 Intervention Set. We recommend you purchase at least one Intervention Set, even if you intend to create your own word lists with the Skill Builder Designer Module.
